Galatasaray striker Lukas Podolski was right to leave Arsenal according to Germany national team manager Joachim Low.

Podolski struggled for playing time at Arsenal and spent the second half of last season on loan at Italian giants Inter Milan.

Low was in the stands at the Türk Telekom Arena watching the Galatasaray v Eskişehirspor keeping tabs on Podolski.

“I have known Podolski for 12 years and know what he is capable of,” Low was quoted as saying by Sabah.

“I know what he is capable of and think he will develop under Hamza Hamzaoğlu he gets more playing time here than he did in England which is good for him.”

Podolski did not score against Eskişehirspor in the 4-0 victory that took Galatasaray into second place. Fenerbahçe are third on goal difference while Beşiktaş are in first place.

The 30-year-old striker now has five goals in all competitions for the Lions this season including four in the league and one in the Champions League.

Podolski has been a part of the Germany national team setup under Low and is expected to be called up to Euro 2016.
