Fenerbahçe striker Robin van Persie is a role model player according to on-loan Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic.
The Serbian international stated that he knew Van Persie from his time in England but that he has a new found respect for the Dutch star since playing and training alongside him.
Markovic tole Fanatik: “I knew him from England but now I personally know him I can tell you he is a role model professional and we really get on well.
“He is a top quality player and I am most impressed by how humble he is and how much he helps the younger players in the team.
“He is a huge benefit to the entire squad.”
Van Persie joined Fenerbahçe on a three-year deal from Manchester United over the summer along with fellow former Red Devil Luis Nani.
The experienced striker has hit the ground running at Fenerbahçe already scoring five goals and providing an assist.
Markovic and Van Persie are both expected to start for the Yellow Canaries against Galatasaray in the Intercontinental derby on Sunday.
There are a total of four players that have played in the Premier League at the Istanbul giants – Van Persie, Nani, Raul Meireles and Markovic.
