Fenerbahçe striker Robin Van Persie has thanked Manchester United CEO Ed Woodward for the role he played in his transfer.
Van Persie completed a three-year move to the Yellow Canaries today in a signing ceremony held in-front of 15,000 Fenerbahçe fans at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium.
“I highly appreciate the work of Ed Woodward, the CEO of Manchester United. The way he dealt with this transfer is from a high level, it’s very classy,” Van Persie was quoted as saying by Turkish-football.com.
“He proved he’s a true gentleman in the way he dealt with the whole situation. Ed, if you’re listening, thank you.”
The 31-year-old will receive €4.9 million per-season and a €20,000 per-match appearance bonus. United will received a £4.8 million transfer fee for the Netherlands international.
Fenerbahçe now have two former United players among their ranks. Luis Nani joined from the Red Devils last week on a £4.3 million move signing a three-year contract with the Yellow Canaries.
The Istanbul giants have now made a total of eight transfers this season including Denmark international Simon Kjaer, Brazil international Josef De Souza and Turkish international Sener Ozbayrakli.
