(Video) Liverpool star Emre Can error leads to Everton goal in Merseyside derby

The Merseyside derby at Goodison Park ended in a 1-1 draw between bitter rivals Liverpool and Everton.

The draw resulted in under fire manager Brendan Rodgers losing his job and he was yet again criticised for using Emre Can in defence.

Rodgers used a three-back formation against the Toffees with Martin Skrtel, Sakho and Emre Can all being assigned a role in the defence.

Can did play much of last season as a make-shift defender in a back three most of the current season in his preferred midfield role.

The decision to deploy Can in the back-three backfired on Rodgers as the 21-year-old’s clearance ended up assisting Romelu Lukaku who converted from just outside the six-yard box.

Can did however, put on a decent performance winning the joint highest number of aerial duals (5) and the most interceptions (4).

The 21-year-old has been called up to the Germany national team for what will be his third cap ahead of the Euro 2016 Group D qualification games.

Can had the option to represent both Turkey and Germany at senior international level.
