Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie has arrived in Istanbul, Turkey ahead of his transfer to Fenerbahçe.
Van Persie was given a heroes welcome by the thousands of Fenerbahçe fans who turned out to greet their new striker at the Sabiha Gökçen airport in Istanbul.
The 31-year-old answered questions from reporters before walking through the large crowd back into the airport terminal.
The Dutch star landed on a private chartered jet provided by Fenerbahçe at airport alongside his family.
As reported by Turkish-football.com’s Emre Sarıgül and the Guardian’s Marcus Christenson on Thursday the Yellow Canaries struck a deal with Manchester United over the transfer of Van Persie last week.
The 31-year-old will officially sign his three-year deal tomorrow in-front of the Fenerbahçe fans at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium on Monday.
The Dutch star has become the second player to join Fenerbahçe from United following Luis Nani who completed his transfer to the Yellow Canaries last Monday.
