Dortmund offer €6.5m per-season deal to Man Utd target Gundogan

Borussia Dortmund have offered İlkay Gündoğan an improved contract extension deal worth €6.5 million per-season according to Sport Bild.

The 24-year-old’s contract is set to run out in 2016 however, Dortmund are keen on extending his deal to 2019.

Gündoğan had initially been linked with a €4.5 million deal in a report by German sports magazine Kicker.

According to another report in the the Bild, Atletico Madrid have started talks with their top transfer target, Gündoğan.

Both Manchester United and Arsenal have also expressed an interest in signing Gündoğan this season.

Gündoğan has four assists and two goals in 22 appearances for Dortmund this season.

The Germany international recently played the full 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw against Australia in an international friendly.

The international match against Australia was the 24-year-old’s first since August 2013.

Gündoğan was born in the German city of Gelsenkirchen into a Turkish family.

Mesut Özil, the Altıntop twins, İlkay Gündoğan and Kaan Ayhan also all herald from the mining town.
