Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has sent scouts to Germany to monitor the performances of Hakan Çalhanoğlu according to TalkSport.
The report states that United are interested in signing the 21-year-old who scored eight goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances last season.
The rising star already has five goals and two assists to his name this season and has built a reputation as being a set-piece specialist. Çalhanoğlu takes just about ever corner for his side and has a phenomenal free-kick scoring record – 22 in the Bundesliga.
Liverpool have joined Manchester United in the race to sign the Bayer wonder-kid according to the Daily Star.
Arsenal and Serie A giants AC Milan are also reported to be interested in the 21-year-old play-maker.
Çalhanoğlu is regarded as being one of the best set-piece specialists in world football.
Pep Guardiola recently revealed that he is a fan of the free-kick maestro, “Çalhanoğlu is one of the best free-kick takers in the Bundesliga.”
Çalhanoğlu is the sixth most valuable U-21 player in the world according to a recent study conducted by Soccerex.
