Arsenal chief Gazidis: Keeping Sanchez and Ozil showed a”clear statement” of ambition
Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has defended the Gunners transfer activity.
The north London-based club have decided to keep hold of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez despite the duo having under 12-months left on their contracts.
Meanwhile, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was allowed to leave in a £35 million move to Liverpool.
Sanchez came close to a deadline day move to Manchester City. However, Arsenal put a stop to the transfer after failing to land Thomas Lamar from Monaco.
The Gunners did however sign Sead Kolašinac on a free transfer and Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.
Arsenal fans were critical of the clubs transfers and their handling of the Alexis Sanchez situation on deadline day.
