Barcelona star Arda Turan revealed that the wearing the number 14 shirt should make his father proud in a recent interview with NTV Spor.
The bearded winger stated that he personally never had the pleasure of watching Johan Cruyff but underlined that his father was a huge fan.
“I never got to watch Cruyff but he was my fathers hero, the only shirt number I played with that I actually picked was the number 14 to make my father happy,” Turan said.
Turan revealed that the only kit number he has ever requested in his professional career has been the number 14 shirt in honour of Cruyff.
Javier Mascherano currently wears the number 14 shirt in the current Barcelona team.
Turan has wore the number 14 shirt in the past. The 28-year-old has used the number 14 for the Turkish national team before switching to number 10.
The Barcelona winger initially wore the number 22 shirt at Galatasaray which coincidently represents the postal code of the city his family originate from – Edirne.
Turan has also worn the number 22, 66, 10, 14 and 11 on his shirt in the past for previous teams.
