Beşiktaş manager Slaven Bilic has revealed that he wants to make his fans proud against Liverpool ahead of the Europa League Round of 32 second leg game.

“Since we want to make our fans proud and happy in the Europa League one more time, we are taking this game seriously,” Bilic told the official Beşiktaş website.

Bilic underlined that his primary focus is the Süper Lig title race but revealed that his side will be taking the Europa League seriously.

“Even though we are more concerned with the Turkish Super League right now, the European matches are important,” he added.

The Croatian manager believes his side have not been at their best lately but will raise their game against Liverpool.

“Due to tiredness and injuries, we were not at our best in recent games. In this match, the team need goals to qualify, but we should also be patient and sharp on defence. Although, the advantage lies with Liverpool, we still have a chance,” Bilic.

Beşiktaş lost 1-0 against Liverpool in the first leg and 1-0 again against Eskişehirspor in the league to drop into second place, one point behind Süper Lig leaders Galatasaray.

The Black Eagles have yet to lose against English opposition in Turkey this season and beat Liverpool 2-1 the last time the two sides met in Turkey.

The return leg will be played at the Atatürk Olympic stadium in front of a full capacity crowd.
