Mesut Ozil reveals he has a sixth sense
“It was not on his best position in my opinion, he played more on the left side, but he can play anywhere up front,” Mertesacker was quoted as saying by ESPN.
The German international does however, believe playing out wide will help him regain his match fitness and underlined that he has been doing more defensive work.
“But it is good for him to get back his fitness maybe on the wing he is doing a bit more defensive work as well,” he added.
Özil suffered a knee injury during Arsenal’s 2-0 loss against Chelsea in October 2014.
The 26-year-old was ruled out for three months and only recently returned to the side.
Santi Cazorla has been playing in Özil’s preferred central attacking midfield position.
The World Cup winner has however, scored twice and provided an assist in his current role.
