West Ham boss Slaven Bilic did not deny the rumours in his post-match interview today following the 1-0 victory over Bournemouth yesterday the Premier League that he is targeting a move for Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony.
“Injuries? Transfers? We will try to get one in and the chairmen will be very generous if we can,” he said after the game speaking to Sky Sports cameras.
“Bony is a good player – but we will speak on Monday. If we get one it’s got to be a good one. But if not I have the squad that will fight for West Ham big time.”
The Daily Mail report that the Hammers have made City an enquiry regarding loaning the Ivory Coast international this season.
Per the source, Bony is expected to leave City over the summer as part of Pep Guardiola’s ruthless cull including several experienced members of the squad.
Bilic will however, face stiff competition from his former club Besiktas who are currently in talks with the City over the loan transfer of Bony a source close to the Istanbul giants told Turkish-football.com.
The Black Eagles are desperate for a striker after Mario Gomez decided he would not be returning to the Istanbul giants last season.
Besiktas would be able to offer Bony guaranteed Champions League football this season if he were to make the move and the Eagles want the striker on a loan deal.
The Daily Star meanwhile report that Arsenal are preparing a £30 million bid for the striker as a last resort after failing to sign their previous targets.
