Cüneyt Çakır is expected to officiate the UEFA Champions League final according to former Central Refereeing Committee (MHK) leader Mustafa Çulcu.

Çulcu tweeted that Çakır is favourite to be given the match as he will not officiate any of the semi-final games.

Çakar recently officiated the Napoli – Wolfsburg Europa League quarter-final second leg tie at the San Paolo stadium on Thursday 23 April.

Bahattin Duran and Tarık Ongun were appointed as the second and third officials while Cem Satman will be the forth official.

The additional assistant referees was Hüseyin Göçek and Halis Özkahya.

Çakır became the first Turkish referee in 40 years to officiate at a World Cup this summer, following in the footsteps of Doğan Babacan who was assigned to officiate the 1974 World Cup.

The 37-year-old is the most experienced Turkish referee at International and European level.

The experienced referee has experience officiating important Champions League, Europa League and World Cup games.

The Turkish referee averages 4.03 yellow cards per game, 0.19 red cards per game and 0.2 penalties per game.
