Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Emre Can could star against Chelsea tonight but underlined that he would not force the Germany international of Turkish origin to play if unfit.
Can has recovered but Klopp does not want to aggravate his injury with the Europa League final against Sevilla on the horizon.
“He is recovering quicker than we thought. The same as Emre (Can). All the coaches and therapists have done a really good job,” Klopp told the Liverpool Echo.
“We cannot force it. We take what we get. In this moment he’s in a better way than we expected the day after the injury. If there’s enough time before next Wednesday, I don’t know yet.”
Can did return for the Europa League semi-final clash against Villarreal last Thursday helping his side book a place in the final but he is still not at 100 percent.
The Germany international of Turkish origin was initially expected to miss the rest of the season and was even a doubt for Euro 2016 but made a speedy recovery.
The Reds will move into 7th place with a victory over the Blues just one point behind 6th placed West Ham going into the final game of the season.
