The Turkish Super League champions Besiktas have held talks with Manchester United over the transfer of Bastian Schweinsteiger.
According to LigTV, the the Black Eagles have held talks with United with the view of signing Schweinsteiger on a season-long loan.
Besiktas are understood to be on the hunt for a high profile signing to mark the beginning of the new season in their newly built stadium.
The Express newspaper stated that Besiktas’ rivals Fenerbahce are also interested in a move for the Germany international.
The Daily Record states that United’s newly appointed manager Jose Mourinho is keen to offload Schweinsteiger, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Juan Mata over the summer transfer window.
The Turkish Super League duo Fenerbahce and Besiktas will be playing Champions League football next season and are currently the bookmakers favourites to lock horns in the 2016-17 title race as well.
