Freiburg starlet Caglar Soyuncu has been closely linked with a move to Arsenal.
Gunners head of recruitment has been keen on the Turkey international since his time at Borussia Dortmund.
“Sven Mislintat has been keen on Caglar since he was at Borussia Dortmund,” Dogru told Turkish-Football.
“He first scouted him back in Germany.”
It now turns out that the North London based outfit could face competition from Manchester United.
The Red Devils have added Soyuncu to an eight-man defensive shortlist as they step up efforts to sign a new centre-back.
The Manchester Evening News reported the following names as being on the eight-man shortlist: Raphael Varane, Jerome Boateng, Kalidou Koulibaly, Toby Alderweireld, Milan Skriniar, Alessio Romagnoli, Jose Gimenez and Soyuncu.
Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld was reported to be a transfer priority but United are reportedly considering alternatives.
The latest development is interesting when you consider what Soyuncu’s agent Mustafa Dogru said.
Despite the Arsenal link, Dogru also made it clear that four Premier League sides are in talks, and that there is interest from Spain and France.
“There are four Premier League sides who’ve made a move for Soyuncu, that we are in talks with.”
“There is also interest from Atletico Madrid in Spain and a few clubs in France, Italy and Germany,” he said.
The 22-year-old is keen on a Premier League move over the summer but also has interest from Spain.
It is likely that he will part ways with the Bundesliga outfit but as of yet an agreement has yet to be reached over his future.
