Lille fullback Mehmet Zeki Celik has revealed that several ‘giant’ clubs have been scouting him this season.

Celik moved to Lille on a €2.5m transfer from Istanbulspor [Transfermarkt] but managed to settle in remarkably well and establish himself as a first-team star.

“Giant clubs have been scouting me closely this season. Of course, it is exciting but there has been no formal offers and I am happy here,” Celik told Yakup Cinar in his interview published in the Fanatik newspaper.

“I feel that I am at a very important club and want to achieve more.”

Cardiff City had an offer for Celik rejected over the winter transfer window a source close to the player revealed to Turkish-Football.

Lille are under no pressure to sell the Turkey international as he has another three years left on his contract.

The 22-year-old provided five assists and one goal in 34 appearances for the Ligue 1 side in his debut season.

Lille ended up finishing the league campaign as runners-up and booking a place in the Champions League as a result.

Celik has also been in impressive form for the Turkey national side and scored a brace in the 2-0 victory over Uzbekistan in Alanya on Sunday.

The highly-rated right-back is likely to start for the national team against France in the 2020 Euro Championship qualifier in Konya on 8 June.
