Arda Turan has confirmed that he rejected “some serious loan offers” during the summer transfer window.
“I had some serious loan offers but the boss wanted me to stay and train for four months to adapt to the Barcelona way,” Turan told Turkish newspaper Akşam and the Lassa – Barcelona sponsorship evening last week.
The Daily Express claims those approaches came from Liverpool and Tottenham.
Turan signed for Barcelona on a £24 million transfer from Atletico Madrid despite the Champions League title holders serving a FIFA transfer ban until January.
Despite being unable to play club football until the turn of the year the bearded winger is able to feature in international games and scored a vital goal in Turkey’s 3-0 win over the Netherlands in Euro 2016 Group A.
Barcelona drew their opening game against Roma 1-1 at the Stadio Olimpico in the Italian capital during the week. The La Liga Champions take on Lavante on Sunday, kick-off is at 19:30 GMT.
