Arsenal 4 – 1 Liverpool – Özil stars in Gunners victory
[divider]Mesut Özil played a staring role in Arsenal’s 4-1 victory over Liverpool in the Premier League today.
The Germany international played a role in Arsenal’s first goal which was scored by Hector Bellerin in the 37th minute of the game. Özil doubled his sides lead with a terrific free-kick in the 40th minute. Aleix Sanchez put his side 3-0 ahead before the half time whistle.
Özil was taken off in the 72nd minute of the games for Danny Welbeck. Liverpool’s only goal came in the 75th minute when Jordan Henderson found the back of the net from the penalty spot.
Olivir Giroud scored the games final goal in the 91st minute with a powerful strike into the top corner.
The Gunners have moved up to 2nd place in the Premier League with 63 points in 30 games. Liverpool remain in 5th place with 54 points.
Özil has five goals and seven assists in all competitions for Arsenal this season.
Liverpool’s Emre Can received a red card in the 84th minute of the game after a second yellow.
