Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil shows support for Bundesliga giants ahead of cup final

Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil has thrown his support behind his former side Schalke 04.

The Bundesliga giants took on Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB Cup last night. Ozil took to social media in the lead-up to the game and posted the following tweet. “Go on Schalke 0 – To the cup finals with you!”

Unfortunately for Ozil, his former side suffered a 1-0 defeat in the semi-final clash.

Ozil rose up the ranks at Schalke to make 30 appearances for The Royal Blues. The star playmaker made the move to Werder Bremen before earning himself a mega-move to Real Madrid in 2010.

After spending three seasons in Spain Ozil joined the north London based club Arsenal in 2013. Ozil put an end to speculation linking him with a Gunners exit however, he recently penned a new four-year deal with Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger’s side are back in action this weekend when they host West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
