Ozan Tufan had a memorable game for all the wrong reasons in Turkey’s 1-0 defeat against Croatia in their opening Euro 2016 Group D clash.
Tufan missed a sitter before deciding to fix his hair instead of closing down Luka Modric who scored the winning goal.
The 21-year-old midfielder became a social media sensation afterwards as a result of the ‘hair incident’.

There were calls for Turkey boss Fatih Terim to shave off Tufan’s hair but the young midfielder’s barber has come out in support of his young customer.

Veysel Senel was responsible for Tufan’s hair cut and sent out an Instagram posting urging Turkish national team supporters not to pin the blame on the young midfielder.
Tufan was not solely to blame for the goal and to be fair the keeper could probably have done better and the clearance before the Modric’s strike was not exactly an exemplary piece of defending.
The 21-year-old is inexperienced so Turkish national team boss Fatih Terim will probably give him the benefit of the doubt.
Tufan learned a tough lesson yesterday. He simply cannot have lapses of concentration at the highest level.
The Turkish international midfielder did otherwise have a decent game and was one of the better performers in what was a poor display.
