Turkish Super Lig side Goztepe have agreed a deal to sign Southampton goalkeeper Mateusz Liz on a permanent basis according to Turkish transfer expert Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.
Sabuncuoglu tweeted the following on X: ‘Göztepe reached a 3+1 year agreement with Southampton’s Mateusz Lis. The Polish goalkeeper will be in Izmir this evening and will officially sign after a medical check-up tomorrow.’
The 27-year-old Polish shot-stopper spent last season on loan at Goztepe, helping the club secure promotion to the top flight. His impressive performances during his loan spell convinced the Turkish club to pursue a permanent deal.

Liz, who joined Southampton from Lech Poznan in 2022, has struggled to break into the Saints’ first team. However, his success at Goztepe has earned him a chance to continue his career in Turkey.
The transfer fee for Liz has not been disclosed, but it is expected to be a significant investment for Goztepe. The Turkish club will be hoping that Liz can replicate his impressive form in the Super Lig and help the team establish themselves in the top flight.
Liz is set to undergo a medical in Izmir before officially joining Goztepe. The move will further strengthen the relationship between the two clubs, who are part of the same ownership group.
Both Goztepe and Southampton are owned by Sport Republic.
