Next Generation 2014: 40 of the best young talents in world football

Turkish-football.com teamed up with the Guardian for the Turkish entry in the ‘Next Generation 2014: 40 of the best young talents in world football’ project.

The project focuses on the most exciting players born in 1997 and for the Turkish entry we decided Enes Ünal fit the criteria.

Ünal is undoubtedly the most promising Turkish striker since the Bull of the Bosphorus, Hakan Şükür. Ünal has an impressive pedigree, scoring 182 goals in 110 appearances for Bursaspor at youth level. The 17-year-old goal machine also has an extraordinary international record hitting the back of the net 24 times in 25 games for the U16’s and has already received call-ups to the U19 as well as the U21 sides. Ünal became the youngest player ever to score in the Süper Lig last season and already has six first team goals for the Green Crocodiles. It will probably come as no surprise that several Premier League and Bundesliga clubs are keeping a close eye on him.
