Arsenal beat PSG 5-1 in the International Champions Cup today in Singapore as part of their pre-season far-east tour.
Mesut Ozil started his first game since returning from pre-season early.
Gunners boss Unai Emery gave the playmaker of Turkish origin the captains armband as well.
The 29-year-old repaid Emery’s faith in him scoring the opening goal inside the first 15 minutes.
We took a look at how Arsenal fans reacted Ozil’s display on social media.
In case you missed the goal.

Arsenal fans appeared pleased to see such a strong response from their star man following a tumultuous summer.
Yes it was a friendly but the captaincy goal and impressive display would have been a boost for his confidence and lets face it he needed some cheering up after the summer he has had.
Ozil quit the Germany national team, citing racism and discrimination as being the main reasons behind his decision.
Really entertaining first-half. Arsenal very exciting going forward. Ozil, Mkhi, Auba and Iwobi all looking good. Guendouzi class in midfield. 1-0 to the Arsenal.

After all the abuse that Ozil has had recently from Germany, it’s extra sweet that Arsenal are now beating Paris St-German and that he scored the opening goal.

I love that Ozil’s nickname is “Der Rabe/The Raven” because it makes me think of Odin’s birds, Huginn and Muninn, who tell him everything that goes on in the world. So I associate them with vision and thought, which is what makes Ozil such a special player. pic.twitter.com/5W9mntKKUL

What I’m saying is that I would pay a lot of money for a painting of Ozil with two ravens perched on his shoulders.

The team spirit within the players is outstanding. Emery has played a blinder the way he has arrived & given them conference and giving Ozil the captaincy today after recent events was a masterstroke

Settled into the game nicely after a few shakey moments at the back.
Ozil looks sharp and ready to go.
Aubameyang looks so dangerous playing through the middle.
Guendouzi looks incredible for 17 years old.— ?⚪️Sully?⚪️ (@shaunsully85) 28 July 2018
Bravo Mesut Abi

I know it’s just a friendly but Mesut Ozil really needed that. To be given captaincy & score against PSG will give his confidence a boost ?

A credit card flip instead of the coin flip? technology!
“Right Mr Ozil, would you like to pick the long number across the front or CVV number on the back?”
