Liverpool’s Slovakian international defender Martin Skrtle is close to a move to Fenerbahce according to the Turkish newspaper AMK.
The report states that the Slovakian international is ‘very close’ to securing a transfer to the Turkish Super Lig giants.
AMK go onto state that the 31-year-old international defender move to Fener is understood to be in the region of €5.5 million.
“Van der Wiel and Slovak Skrtel transfers are almost done,” Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim told AMK Spor.
The powerful defender fell out of favour with recently appointed Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and is expected to leave the club after Euro 2016.
Skrtel joined the Reds for £6.5 million from Zenit Saint-Petersburg in 2008 and has made 320 appearances for the Premier League outfit. The Slovakia international will become the second defender to leave the club after Kolo Toure was released after his contract ended.
The powerful defender featured in Slovakia’s Euro 2016 campaign which saw them record a win over Russia and 0-0 draw with England.
