Liverpool have established contact with Napoli star midfielder Jorginho according to reports in Brazil.
We recently reported that the Reds are on the lookout for a midfielder to replace the out-bound Emre Can.
The 24-year-old has under three-months remaining on his contract and will be able to leave the club for free this summer unless a new deal is agreed.
Both Man United and Liverpool are understood to be interested in signing Jorginho. Italian outlet Corriere del Mezzogiorno has claimed that it will take a €40 million bid to prise the midfielder away from Napoli.
Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte claim that Liverpool are already in talks with Jorginho’s representatives.
Meanwhile, Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos confirmed to Brazilian radio station Radio Crc that his client has received interest from Liverpool and Man United.

“From June he’ll have two years on his contract and maybe we’ll start discussing it then, it’s pointless messing with his head,” Santos stated.
“The contract isn’t expiring anytime soon, there’s time. He’s happy in Naples, Jorginho is happy and the city is very beautiful.
“Manchester United and Manchester City? When you’re playing for the Serie A leaders it’s only logical that important teams will ask for updates: for example on the length of the contract.”
Emre Can has retained his place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven despite the ongoing contract saga. The Reds are back in action tonight when they take on Newcastle United in the Premier League.
