Liverpool’s star midfielder Emre Can could make his first appearance at this summer’s Euro 2016 tournament when Germany take on Italy.
Can is yet to make an appearance at Euro 2016 and has been an unused substitute in all five of Germany’s games. However, with Sami Khedira ruled out and Bastian Schweinsteiger struggling for fitness, the Liverpool star may be in contention to start for Joachim Low’s side.
Germany manager Joachim Low has predominantly used Can as a defender despite the 22-year-old starring in Liverpool’s midfield this season.
Can is one of eight Germany born ethnic Turks in the tournament. Mesut Ozil is the other Germany international of Turkish origin while Turkey has six Germany born players.
Germany will now take on the hosts France in the Euro 2016 semi-final. The winner of that game will take on either Portugal or Wales in the final.
