The playmaker of Turkish origin now has three goals and five assists in all competitions for the Gunners this season.
Ozil has won over a large section of the fan base and silenced his critics over recent weeks.
The 29-year-old will however, be a free agent at the end of the season unless he signs a new contract deal.
Arsenal fans reacted to Ozil’s goal, display and ongoing contract situation on social media after the game – they even compared him with Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane.

The goal went down a treat with the Arsenal faithful.
Ozil has actually outdone Zidane’s legacy. His goal today was way better than the bald Algerian’s hit and hope in CL final

Most impressive aspect of that Ozil goal was the technique. Didn’t try to hit it too hard and made a superb connection. Cue cup of tea gif.

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech hails Mesut Ozil’s strike against Newcastle, claiming that it reminded him of Zinedine Zidane’s greatest moments.
“It was a fantastic goal. It made me think of Zidane goal in #UCL final in Glaslow against Leverkusen.”

This Ozil’s goal looks like that Zidane champions league goal ?

Poor Liverpool fans, we compare Ozil to Zidane, they compare Coutinho to Ozil ? levels

So did his general performance.
For me the highlight of the game wasn’t Ozil’s goal but what he did somewhere around the 85th minute. Steals the ball from the opposition before dancing past his man and sprinting forward to bring the ball to his final third. Laziness my left testicle.

He just can’t win can he…
Ozil’s goal was the kind that deserves to win a game, but it was the highlight in what was another really average performance. Nice to get the three points though.

Let me hit you with a stat attack!

One of the greatest number 10’s of all-time.

Well Arsenal fans seem to think Ozil is staying after his latest display, tweets from the Gunners official account and going by what Arsene Wenger said.
Could Ozil be set to renew his contract? could Alexis Sanchez follow? both players are entering the last six months of their contract.
Just got online since yesterday. So Wenger confirmed he is confident Ozil is signing new deal. I was right after all. He is signed till 2021. Goretzka is also very very very very likely to become a Gooner. Talks positive between he and the club.

Ozil has renewed. Contract runs until 2021.

The Arsenal account is clearly hyping Ozil to announce a new contract before the end of this month so they can sell Alexis in January. All about managing the PR around it.

Arsenal Account highlighting Ozil’s career and goals since he joined us is a good indication something big is brewing up. An Announcement? ? Otherwise why would they only focus on Ozil? Let’s hope it’s happening. He is our best player and deserves a new contract. #YagunnersYa

Wenger had the right intentions I guess.
That would make Ozil worth approx £2.3m based on the current value of gold. Damning assessment by Wenger. //t.co/S313lN35wN
