Liverpool star Emre Can continues to face an uncertain future as his contract runs down.
Can did however, take an interest in the future of local schoolkids after participating in a charity event to celebrate World Book Day 2018 at Anfield this week.
The midfielder of Turkish origin was joined by Trent Alexander-Arnold as well as two renowned children’s authors to Ben Lyttleton and Alex Bellos, creators of the Football School book series, to host a literacy event for 200 local pupils.
World Book Day took place on Thursday March 1 in more than 100 countries and is aimed at encourgaing children to read.
Can revealed what he made of the event on the official Liverpool website: “It’s been fantastic to be involved in the World Book Day event here at Anfield and to help the children learn about the positives of reading.

“It’s really important to inspire them to read a lot in their spare time, as it can make a big difference in many areas of their lives.”
Can will be a free agent at the end of the season unless he extends his current contract.
The 24-year-old has however, enjoyed first-team football as a first-choice star under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp and did get to represent the club at the book event.
The midfielder is likely to feature against Newcastle United in the Premier League over the weekend.
