Emre Can has stated that he still believes Liverpool can finish in the top four this season and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
The 21-year-old played the full 90 minutes during Liverpool’s disappointing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Watford FC last weekend.
“Of course, it is our goal to play in the Champions League next season,” Can told Kicker.
“The season is still long and a lot of things can happen.
“We lack a bit of consistency but take that West Brom match [a 2-2 draw] – we were clearly the better side but like so many times before were not able to make use of our chances.”
Liverpool remained in ninth position following todays defeat with 24 points in 17 games. Watford also remain in seventh place with 28 points in 17 matches. The Hornets have now won four games in a row and are just a point off the top four.
The Red’s take on the in-form Leicester City on Boxing Day. Emre Can has provided one assist and scored one goal in 24 appearances for Liverpool this season.
