West Ham outcast receives offer from Turkish giants Galatasaray

Galatasaray have made an offer for on-loan West Ham forward Jonathan Calleri a source close to the club revealed the Turkish-Football.com.

The Lions are keen to bring Calleri in to add depth if Lukas Podolski completes his big money move to China.

Galatasaray also terminated Kolbeinn Sigthorsson’s loan deal without the Iceland international making a single appearance.

Sigthorsson has returned to Nantes leaving Galatasaray with just Sinan Gumus, Eren Derdiyok and Podolski upfront.

The Argentinian forward has played just 129 minutes of Premier League football for West Ham this season.

West Ham signed Calleri on loan from Uruguayan outfit Deportivo Maldanado over the summer with an option to make the deal permanent.

Maldanado was the 2015 Copa Libertadores goal king with Brazilian giants Sao Paulo but has struggled for playing time at West Ham this season.

Calleri has not actually featured since the end of October under the stewardship of Slaven Bilic.

The Argentinian has had no shortage of interest with Serie A duo Fiorentina and Sampdoria as well as La Liga outfit Las Palmas also in the race.

The move could however, run into trouble and be subject to FIFA giving clearance for the move to go ahead – if he does leave – as he has already made two loan moves in the past 12 months.

Calleri wants more playing time but has only managed to feature for the under-23 side for most of the season.

The 23-year-old represented Argentina at the 2016 Olympic Games and was highly rated prior to his move to West Ham but things have not gone to plan for the forward.

Calleri’s West Ham future looks unlikely as Bilic rarely used him even during his injury crisis upfront.

The Hammers have told Calleri that he is free to leave the club in January.

Galatasaray are currently third in the Turkish Super Lig, three points behind league leaders Basaksehir.

The Super Lig returns to action on Friday following a two-week winter break.
