Super Lig Club Accepts £20m Liverpool Offer For Croatia International Star, Personal Talks Set To Go Ahead

Liverpool have had a £20 million offer for Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida accepted according to the Aksam newspaper.

Per the source, the Black Eagles have said ‘yes’ to the Reds bid.

The Premier League outfit increased their offer from £15m to £20m. Besiktas will consult Vida next before personal talks go ahead.

The Reds have reportedly lead the race that involves six clubs from three different countries for the Croatia international.

The Super Lig outfit only signed Vida in January, on a free transfer from Dynamo Kiev.

Besiktas have revealed to Turkish-Football that they want Vida to stay but he is available for the right price.

Vida would join fellow Croatia international Dejan Lovren if he were to make the move to Liverpool.

Lovren and Vida were defensive partners in the Croatia side that reached the World Cup final in Russia.

Vida scored in the quarter-final against Russia and provided an assist in the final against France.

The 29-year-old made The Guardian Team of the Tournament.

Vida does have another four-years remaining on his current contract.

Besiktas have yet to release a statement regarding the latest report and the defender is currently on a 20-day holiday following the end of the World Cup.

Liverpool are the bookmakers favorites to sign Vida. BetStars spokesman Ian Marmion was quoted by the Express as saying: “Croatia’s defensive dynamo Domagoj Vida has attracted Premier League interest following his standout performances at the World Cup in Russia.

“Liverpool are the current 3/1 favourites to sign the 29-year-old as the man to provide competition for his Croatian compatriot Dejan Lovren in central defence next season.”

The Turkish media have however, been sharing new transfer stories regarding Vida almost daily now throughout the World Cup with wildly differing figures and claims.

In fairness, despite quoting different numbers most papers have been reporting the Reds as being favourites.
