Sergio Aguero wanted Liverpool move after The Miracle Of Istanbul
Liverpool’s win over AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League – otherwise known as the The Miracle Of Istanbul – almost lead to Sergio Aguero joining the Reds.
According to an old interview with the TZ Munich newspaper (Unearthed by SkySports), Aguero has been a life-long Liverpool fan and dreamed of playing for the Reds.
The Argentina international also stated that he celebrated all of Liverpool’s goals during their win over AC Milan.
“If I had to choose a league then it would be the Premier League,” Aguero is quoted as saying in the Munich TZ newspaper.
“I have been a Liverpool fan for as long as I can remember and it would be a dream to play there.
“I watched the Champions League final and celebrated every goal as if it was for Independiente.”
Aguero ended up making the move to Atletico Madrid from Independiente. Following a successful spell in the Spainish capital, Aguero made the move to Manchester City where he has won two Premier League titles.
However, the Argentina international’s time at City may be coming to an end after falling out of favour with manager Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola has opted to field the 19-year-old Gabriel Jesus in place of Aguero in recent weeks.
Aguero has scored an impressive 113 goals in 168 league apperances during his five-and-a-half year spell at City so far.
