Arsenal and Liverpool have suffered a major transfer blow in the leadup to the summer transfer window.
The Premier League duo were closely linked with a £20 million move for Kerem Demirbay in recent months.
However, the 24-year-old appears to have poured cold water on any chance of a Premier League move by putting pen-to-paper on a new Hoffenheim deal.
Demirbay’s new four-year deal could keep him at the Bundesliga club until the end of the 2021-22 season.
Hoffenheim director of football Alexander Rosen released a statement to Hoffenheim’s official website.
Rosen stated that the new deal sent “a strong signal, both internally and externally, and underpins that we are resolutely pursuing our ambitious and successful path from recent years”.
Demirbay has one assist and scored two goals go his name after 15 appearances for Hoffenheim this season.
The Germany international is currently recovering from an ankle ligament injury and isn’t expected to return until mid-April.
Hoffenheim are back in action this weekend when they take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.
Arsenal face Southampton while Liverpool take on their bitter rivals Everton at Goodison Park.
