The Guardian report findings by Pitchside that ranks the 108 players from the Premier League’s 20 clubs playing at the World Cup.
Drawn from 28 countries currently in Russia, they have a combined reach of almost half a billion followers.
The playmaker of Turkish origin tops the league table with 23.2 million Twitter followers, 16.6 million Instagram followers and 31.5 million Facebook likes.
Ozil is one of three players of Turkish origin at the World Cup along with Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan and Australia full-back Aziz Behich.
The Arsenal man has a huge following in Germany, England and Turkey.
Ozil is a popular personality in Turkey, speaks the language and also regularly appears on television shows in the country.
The 29-year-old is expected to feature in Germany’s opening World Cup game against Mexico on Sunday.
