Aston Villa star midfielder and Iceland international Birkir Bjarnason could be on his way out of the Championship this summer.
The daily Turkish newspaper Takvim has linked Turkish Super Lig giants Trabzonspor with a move for Bjarnason.
Per the source, Trabzonspor’s director of football Ozkan Sumer has set his sights on two Iceland internationals, Bjarnason and Rurik Gislason.
Takvim states that the Black Sea storm will table an offer for Bjarnason after the World Cup.
Bjarnason joined Aston Villa from FC Basel back in 2017 and has established himself as a key figure in Steve Bruce’s side. The 30-year-old midfielder provided three assists and scored four goals in 29 appearances for Villa last season.
The box-to-box midfielder is currently on international duty with Iceland at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Iceland take on Croatia tonight knowing a win could see them qualify to the next round.
