Joachim Low hints Liverpool star could be named Germany captain

“I have not dealt with the question yet,” Low was quoted as saying by Goal.
“We also have other people who already take on management tasks at their clubs.
“Mustafi was not used very often due to the fact that Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng often played in the tournaments. I believe he is doing well with our young and inexperienced team, because he can also take on management tasks.
“We have two to three players who already have more tournament experience: Mustafi, Julian Draxler and Emre Can. I think it will become clear, who will also take on the field leadership tasks during the Confederations Cup.”
Can is not captain for Liverpool but there are sections of the fanbase and pundits who feel he could take on the role in the future.
The midfielder of Turkish origin would captain Germany for the first time if he were to receive the armband.
Can would also become the first player of Turkish origin to captain the Germany national side.
Low has selected Can for his Germany squad which will compete at this summer’s Confederation Cup in Russia.
The tournament takes place between June 17 and July 2. If Germany go all the way to the final, Can will report back to Liverpool after the Red’s tour of Asia.
