Mesut Ozil delivered a heartfelt response to news that Arsene Wenger will be parting ways with Arsenal at the end of the season after 22 years in charge of the club.
It was, of course, Wenger who signed the playmaker of Turkish origin on a then-record £42.5 million move from Real Madrid in 2013.
Ozil has won three FA Cup trophies under the stewardship of Wenger and could end the season with the Europa League.

There were some brilliant reactions, including this heartbreaking message.
Make him proud, you’re his greatest creation, retire here, become the legend he wanted you to be.

Was it a bit over the top?

There were a lot of emotional Gooners. Afterall there are fans who grew up on Wenger, how many of you actually remember a time before him in charge?
I don’t remember Arsenal before Wenger, if you are under the age of 30 it is likely you grew up with the French head coach.
It is difficult to imagine Arsenal without Wenger!
Cant imagine Arsenal without Arsene, i was actually born when he is there, we’ll miss him ? @MesutOzil1088 and i miss @GoalivierGiroud too? and wish them the best in life pic.twitter.com/zVcUWX6fCz

One of Arsene’s greatest signings sharing his respect for Always the Boss ???
Whoever succeeds Arsene better value Mesut as highly. Add that to your criteria, Mr. Gazidis?

If it wasn’t for Wenger you wouldn’t be here, I’m so grateful for that to have the best playmaker in the world at our club!

Mesut you are his prodigal son in recent years. You epitomise the class, dignity & respect that Big Weng has always had. Its a privilege seeing Wenger all these years, it’s the same privilege seeing you carry on putting our famous red and white shirt on too.Lead us to a new dawn

Well not everyone was as kind to Ozil, this fan actually blamed him for Wenger having to leave at the end of the season.
We’ve been failing since you’ve come in, him trusting you is the reason he’s lost his job, you owe him the Europa League big time, i hope you feel very awful this evening, you are responsible for this, bye.
