Mesut Özil played the full 90 minutes in the Germany national team victory over Poland in the Group D Euro 2016 qualification game in Frankfurt today.
The 26-year-old was a doubt for the game after missing Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Newcastle last weekend.
Özil took to social media shortly after victory and uploaded a picture on his Instagram account along with the following caption, “3:1 #BeTheDifference #europeanqualifiers #roadtofrance #dfbteam #diemannschaft.”
Özil is expected to feature in Germany’s clash with Scotland on Tuesday. Germany are top in Group D with 16 points in seven games. The 2014 World Cup winners have won their last four group games.
The World Cup winners return from injury will be a boost to Arsenal fans. The Gunners were the only club from the top five European leagues not to sign an outfield player during the summer transfer window.
Özil had started in all of Arsenal’s games this season until picking up his injury. Arsenal are without a win at the Emirates but will be hoping to turn around their fortunes at home when they take on host Stoke City on 12 September after the international break.
