Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson believes Mesut Ozil will not feature for the Gunners this weekend.

The Germany international has missed Arsenal’s last two games – against Tottenham and Manchester United – due to a back injury.

Arsenal has managed to remain unbeaten during Ozil’s injury spell and the 29-year-old may struggle to break back into Unai Emery’s starting eleven at this point.

Speaking to SkySports, Merson stated that he does not believe Emery will reinstate Ozil to is starting lineup. The Gunners take on Huddersfield on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00 (GMT).

“Will Ozil return for Arsenal this weekend?” Paul Merson told Sky Sports.

“I don’t see Unai Emery bringing him back in now as Arsenal will try to play in the same vein as they did against Tottenham and Manchester United.

“Huddersfield were bang unlucky against Bournemouth and I also thought they were unlucky against Brighton with Steve Mounie’s sending off.

“However, I don’t see anything but an Arsenal win. They will have too much for David Wagner’s side at the Emirates.”

Merson went onto predict a 3-1 victory for the north London based club.

Ozil has provided one assist and scored four goals in 12 appearances for Arsenal this season.

Arsenal increased their unbeaten run to 19 games in all competitions following their 4-2 victory over rivals Tottenham last weekend and followed it up with a draw against Manchester United on Wednesday night.
