Sassuolo manager Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed interest in Alanyaspor loanee Merih Demiral after reports linking the Serie A side with a move for the young centre-back.
During today’s press conference ahead of the Cagliari game, De Zerbi was asked about rumoured interest in Ferreyra and Demiral.
“It’s true, these are among the names we are studying and are players who can fit in well here,” said the Coach.
“However, there is a game against Cagliari tomorrow.”
Demiral is still owned by Sporting CP but Alanyaspor can activate their option to buy and then sell him on at a better price.
The price Alanyaspor want for the 20-year-old defender is in the region of €7 million.
Turkish-Football reported that Manchester United have also expressed an interest in Demiral and have been scouting him since his time in Portugal.
Statistics site Whoscored rate the Turkey international as the second best defender in the league.
The 1.92m tall centre-back models himself on former United legend Nemanja Vidic.
Demiral recently told the Tam Saha magazine: “When I was young I always followed Nemanja Vidic at Manchester United. I used to watch clips of him on the internet. He’s still my idol even if he has retired. He was brave, a warrior, never gave up and was a true leader.”
