Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has praised Mesut Ozil for the defensive side of his game following the North London based sides win over Manchester City in the Premier League.
The England international said that Ozil contributes to the side both offensively and defensively and feels his defensive work goes unnoticed.
“Obviously its a team game but you need these players in the team if you want to continue what we are doing,” Walcott told Sky Sports 1 after the game.
“The amount he gives to this team, the threat going forward and not only that, defensively as well, he puts a shift in which most people won’t see.”
The 27-year-old received a a rating of 8.1 from Whoscored for his performance on the night. Ozil took 59 touches on the ball, made two key passes and maintained a passing accuracy of 89%.
The World Cup winner also contributed to Arsenal when it came to defence. Ozil made four successful tackles and one interception. The Gunners take on Southampton in their next league game.
