James Milner scored the winning goal from the penalty spot to take the Reds into sixth place just six points off league leaders Leicester City.

Emre Can started for Liverpool in central midfield and competed the highest number of passes for his side (80) at an 83 percent accuracy.

Can also defended well making four tackles, four interceptions and five clearances for his side.

Liverpool take on Southampton next in the League Cup on Wednesday.
