West Ham’s midfielder playmaker Dimitri Payet is on par with Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil according to Paul Merson.
“Dimitri Payet is some player. You can see why West Ham have missed him, he’s up there with Mesut Ozil for me,” Merson said in the Daily Star (via Express).
“I’d be shocked if he’s still at West Ham next season because everyone will be in for him. He’s got it all. He must be the best buy of the summer window.”
The Arsenal playmaker Ozil has had an excellent season so far for the Gunners, having provided 16 assists in 20 appearances.
Payet has also impressed in his debut season for West Ham. The 28-year-old has scored six goals and made four assists in his last 13 matches.
The France international joined West Ham on a five-year deal for an undisclosed eight-figure sum from Marseille in the summer.
Ozil has won the Arsenal player of the month award for the last three consecutive months. The Germany international is expected to start in Arsenal’s clash with Stoke City today.
