Emre Can fits in with the Liverpool culture says Brendan Rodgers [divider]

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes that Emre Can is a courageous player with a character that fits in well with the football clubs culture.

“He is a big talent. He has got wonderful ability. This is a club that is synonymous with players that have the courage to play football… He is a kid that wants to play,” Rodgers told TALKSPORT.

Can starred in the Reds 2-1 FA Cup Fourth Round replay win over Bolton on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old hit the crossbar with a long range effort and setup Raheem Sterling with the equaliser.

Can’s assist was his first for Liverpool since joining on a £9.75 million move from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

Rodgers has used Can as a defender for much of the season but the youngster was originally signed as a central midfielder.

Can was born in Germany to Turkish parents and is eligible to represent both countries at international level.

The 21-year-old is yet to make a senior international cap for either Germany or Turkey.

Can has made 19 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions this season.
