Galatasaray Manager Addresses Man City Midfielder Interest Rumours

Galatasaray Technical Director Okan Buruk addressed a range of topics during the team’s training camp in Austria, with a specific focus on the club’s transfer strategy and budget limitations. Speaking to beIN Sports [Per Haberler], Buruk commented on the transfer rumors linking the club to Turkish national team stars İlkay Gündoğan and Hakan Çalhanoğlu.

When asked directly about the possibility of bringing in one of the high-profile midfielders, Buruk emphasized that the club’s financial resources are a primary concern.

“Osimhen Transfer Is Almost Concluding”

Buruk confirmed that the club is on the verge of finalizing a major transfer, stating, “Osimhen’s transfer is almost concluding.” This significant investment, he explained, has a direct impact on the team’s ability to pursue other high-profile targets.

“We are using a very significant budget for Osimhen, and after that, we need to make decisions according to the remaining budget,” Buruk said. “You can ask for a lot of things here; you can request players for every position, but our budget is also in a very important situation. We need to use it correctly.”

A Step-by-Step Approach

Buruk outlined the club’s strategic approach to the summer transfer window, emphasizing that they are moving through their priorities position by position.

“This is also the wish of our president, and our thought is actually to go position by position,” he explained. “We quickly finalized Leroy Sané. Osimhen was very important, and Osimhen’s transfer is almost concluding. After that is finalized, especially the goalkeeper transfer will be important for us.”

He concluded by stressing the need for careful consideration in the coming weeks. “We need to make decisions regarding other positions in the ongoing process. Who will leave, who will stay, who will depart… The most important thing here is, of course, you need to have a budget,” he stated.

Buruk’s comments suggest that while the club is ambitious, their transfer activity will be carefully managed, with the successful acquisition of Osimhen consuming a large portion of their available funds.
