Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is the talk of the town right now but it was not too long ago that he was being criticised for not working hard enough and his languid style.
Manchester United legend and football pundit Rio Ferdinand believes that Özil has been misunderstood and that it is wrong to compare him to the likes of Alexis Sanchez who is often praised for his work-rate as they are different types of players.
“Sanchez might be showing him up the way he plays because fans see Sanchez running back and think why can’t you but they are two different players,” Ferdinand said speaking before the Arsenal v Olmypiakos game.
Özil played a key role in the opening goal in the 3-0 victory over Olmpiakos yesterday in Greece. The win earned the Gunners a place in the Champions League Last 16 for the 16th consecutive season.
