Leicester City have held advanced talks with Gokhan Inler’s agent according to Leicester based newspaper the Mercury.
The Daily newspaper report that the Premier League side want to bolster their options in midfield following the departure of Esteban Cambiasso.
Cambiasso left Leicester at the end of last season after his contract expired and joined Greek champions Olympiakos last week.
The report goes onto state that Inler’s agent Dino Lamberti had a long meeting with Leicester representatives last weekend after he had originally rejected a move to the Foxes.
West Ham, Besiktas, Fiorentina, Hamburg and Werder Bremen are all also in the race to sign Inler according to Sky Sports journalist Gianluca di Marzio.
Schalke recently withdrew their offer for the central midfielder after failing to agree personal terms.
Inler scored one goal in 33 appearances for Napoli in all competitions last season.
The Switzerland international has also previously played for Udinese, Zurich and FC Basel.
