Bayer Leverkusen tell Fatih Terim that threatening someone with a gun is a serious matter [divider]
Leverkusen Sporting Director Dirk Mesch has stated that they are yet to receive an explanation to why Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Ömer Toprak were left out of the Turkish national team squad.
Mesch said, “We would like to look at the facts surrounding the incident but we are still unsure of what exactly happened. Nobody is giving us information on the matter.
“Fatih Terim is the person who should be relaying information to us. This incident could have consequences regarding which national team young Turks in Germany choose to represent.
“Lessons need to be learned. An incident like this would not take place in the German national team as threatening a person with a gun in Germany is taken very seriously.
“Every nation has methods of dealing with such incidents, we will see how the Turkish national team deals with this.”
Terim caused controversy when he decided to drop Toprak and Çalhanoğlu while calling up Töre.
Töre’s friend allegedly pulled a gun on Toprak and Çalhanoğlu. All this happened while Töre was having a fist fight with Toprak’s friend.
Turkey are currently last in Euro 2016 qualification Group A with one point.
