Liverpool team news: International star with 12 months remaining on contract to miss start of pre-season
Liverpool star Emre Can will miss the start of the Reds pre-season training camp.
The 23-year-old has been selected in Joachim Low’s Germany squad which will compete at this summer’s Confederation Cup in Russia.
The competition takes place between June 17 and July 2. If Germany go all the way to the final, Can will report back to Liverpool after the Red’s tour of Asia.

Germany have been drawn in Group B alongside Cameroon, Chile and Australia. The hosts Russia meanwhile are in Group A with New Zealand, Portugal and Mexico.
Can also missed last summer’s pre-season camp after helping Germany reach the semi final’s of Euro 2016.
The 23-year-old struggled for fitness and with injuries following a slow start to the season.
Can’s Liverpool future remains in doubt. The former Bayer Leverkusen man will have just 12 months remaining on his contract with the Reds this summer.
Liverpool take on Middlesborough this weekend in the Premier League. The Reds know a victory will guarantee them UEFA Champions League football.
